Top 5 Places To Visit In The Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic is a beautiful island with a diverse landscape and vibrant culture. After living on the island for over two years, here are my top five places to visit.

1) Constanza

“Switzerland of the Caribbean”

Boasting breathtaking views, Constanza is the coldest region and highest altitude town in the Caribbean. On your next visit, take a sip of fresh strawberry tea at Fresas Ariyama or enjoy a refreshing hike at the Valle Nuevo National Park. You won’t regret visiting this unexpected Dominican Destination.

2) Jarabacoa

“Place of Waters”

White-water rafting, hiking, delicious food, and beautiful weather are among the many treasures tucked away in the mountain resort town of Jarabacoa. Here, adventurous travelers will find plenty to do— including endeavoring on the ultimate quest to hike the tallest peak in the Caribbean, Pico Duarte.

Jarabacoa — which means “place of waters” — is home to many waterfalls, including Jimenoa Waterfall, Baiguate Waterfall, and Salto Secreto (the Secret Waterfall). The allure doesn’t end there, as there’s something for everyone — from horseback riding to touring the vibrant “Umbrella Street” in the town center.

3) Puerto Plata

“Port of Silver”

Bask in the warm sun on one of the many beautiful beaches in Puerto Plata. View the glistening silver color of its coast at sunset that earned this tranquil town its name “Port of Silver”.

While here do not miss visiting the most complete adventure park, and entertainment complex in the Dominican Republic – Ocean World.. Once inside, enjoy one of the many attractions such as sea lions, water slides, and swimming with dolphins.

4) Rio San Juan

Low Profile Coastal Destination

If you’re looking to disconnect and experience something genuine, Rio San Juan is the place to be. Still relatively undiscovered, this tranquil town offers a sense of intimacy and authenticity that’s hard to find in more crowded destinations. The beaches, especially Playa Grande with its backdrop of mangrove forests, offer a peaceful retreat into nature.

Visit Laguna Dudú – a hidden gem in the nearby town of Cabrera that has ziplining, cave swimming, and free fall ziplining for a low cost.

5) Punta Cana

“Tip of the White Palm”

The uniqueness of Punta Cana comes from its beaches lined with coconut palms that seem to reach the sky. The all-inclusive resorts and boutique hotels here are unmatched in their comfort and dedication to the art of modern beachfront living. It’s also a golfer’s paradise, featuring incredible courses — including one of the top golf courses in the world, Punta Espada.
